Magnalight.com Adds 12 / 24 Volt LED Explosion Proof Light for Rigs, Remote Locations and Paint Spray Booths

(Vocus) January 12, 2010 -- Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com announced the addition of a low voltage hazardous location light that operates on 12 and 24 volts. The EPL-48-LED-LV LED light has UL certifications for Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 areas for flammable vapors or explosive dusts and paint spray booth certifications. The four foot long hazardous location area fixture incorporates 2 LED T-series lamps, each producing 24 watts of illumination. When measured with an Extech light meter at 8 feet, this explosion proof LED light produces approximately 2.5 times the illumination in foot candles or Lux than a standard 4 foot 2 lamp fluorescent fixture with 120 watts of T5HO bulbs. The EPL-48-2L-LED-LV is part of a family of explosion proof lights, including the EPL-48-2L fluorescent explosion proof light and the EPL-48-2L-LED high voltage LED explosion proof light. The Magnalight explosion proof lights (http://www.magnalight.com/c-154-explosion-proof-lights.aspx) family includes 2 foot lights, 4 lamp fixtures and a wide variety of mounts.

“Customers came to us asking for low voltage, low wattage, high output explosion proof light fixtures for remote locations,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com. We developed a low voltage version of our LED T-series bulbs for specialty applications. In remote locations that require UL 844 Class 1 Division 1 or Class 2 Division 1 certified lights, like pump stations, terminal interconnects and other pipeline and storage related facilities, explosion proof lights need to be run from battery packs, supported by alternative energy generation designs. In this scenario, highly efficient, 12 or 24 volt lights with bright, white light output make sense. The EPL-48-2L-LED-LV’s 24 watt LED lights, a 4 foot 2 lamp explosion proof light only draws 2 amps on 24 volts. Thus, fairly minimal generation and/or storage is needed to support the light. Within this design, these LED T-series bulbs create more illumination than comparable 60 watt T5 bulbs, so this explosion proof light fixture is a legitimate solution for this application,” concluded Rob.

Larson Electronics manufactures a wide variety of explosion proof lighting for all types of applications. Serving military, industrial and commercial customers, Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com offers permanent mount, portable and handheld lighting with hazardous location ratings.
